This collection is the artist’s personal exploration. Her effort to express and appreciate her own changing body after beating breast cancer provoked Villere to create her exquisitely emotional female figures. The forms also stem from her practice in appreciating and loving every body that has posed in front of her camera over the past two decades. Combining these two things—her experience and exploration—has produced magic in Villere’s fleeting female figures. With a focus on the emotion of her subject’s movements and exposed forms as opposed to facial expressions, Villere has tapped into her genius as a painter. While her nude figures may be interpreted as provocative, these bodies are meant to evoke power and transformation, a glow from within.
