To understand the true and technical form of abstract painting, Villere challenged herself to play with creating abstract art. After realizing there is actually no definition of a “perfect” abstract painting, the artist allowed the canvas to take control and watched it happen. By using color, shape and texture, Villere plays with imprinting character and definition to each of her pieces with a variety of mediums, including acrylics, pastels and spray paint. Possibly her most powerful abstract pieces are those that incorporate the unique application and layering of tape and textural paints.
